Due to extremely dry conditions and a rainfall deficit of over 13 inches, the Southwest Florida Water Management District has issued Phase 3 water restrictions, which will affect Sarasota County beginning April 3.
What is changing?
- Watering hours are now LIMITED to overnight (8 p.m. – 4 a.m.) on your watering day.
- Car washing can be done on your watering day at any time, but you must have a shutoff nozzle on their water hose.
- Fountains are limited to 4 hours per day.
- Public Utilities staff will issue citations without warning beginning April 17.
The following counties are subject to these restrictions: Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, and Sumter counties; portions of Charlotte, Highlands, and Lake counties; the City of Dunnellon and The Villages in Marion County; and the portion of Gasparilla Island in Charlotte County.
